ABOUT ME

Jessica Serna is a fifth-year student at Pennsylvania State University.  She will graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus in construction.  While at Penn State Jessica has been in many student organizations including the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP), and Penn State International Dance Ensemble (PSIDE).

This past summer Jessica Serna was employed by the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute, a company that provides facilities engineering services, education programs, and energy management to Pennsylvania state agencies, the federal government and nonprofit organizations.  Jessica was assigned to Slippery Rock University (SRU) to assist with energy improvements as a Facilities Engineer Intern and worked in their Facilities and Planning office in Slippery Rock, PA.  She gained experience using AutoCAD Architecture, working on shop drawings, using GPS mapping devices, along with doing some work in the field.  Jessica worked alongside the Project Manager and Lead Drafter at SRU.  The previous summers she spent as a Program Assistant for different summer bridge programs, assisting incoming freshman with chemistry, physics, and calculus.

For the past 4 years Jessica has had various positions in the Multicultural Engineering Program Orientation through the Center for Engineering Outreach and Inclusion.  Outside of academics, Jessica enjoys mentoring, dancing, and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.  She also likes to spend time with her family and travel.
